Sinney Cheuk Woon Yee will Return to Baseball

Serinah Ho - Sinney Cheuk Woon-yee won't let a stray bullet stop her from playing baseball again, even in foreign lands.

The 28-year-old returned with the Hong Kong team from Venezuela yesterday after being shot in the calf during a women's World Cup match against the Netherlands on Friday.

Cheuk, who said the wound is still painful, thanked everyone, especially her "family and teammates," for their support.

"I don't think the injury will hinder my movements and I won't stop playing. Definitely not. It was just an accident and I am not afraid of taking part in competitions later in other countries." more....

USA Baseball vs. Cuba: Game Stoping SHOOTING?

Photo by Karl Fisher. Cary NCWomen's World Cup in Venezuela – Play resumed at the International Baseball Federation Women’s World Cup in Venezuela after a Hong Kong player was hit with a bullet on Friday.

Cheuk Woon-yee was hit in the calf and fell to the ground as she was taking the field in the fourth inning.

Officials suspended the tournament and have decided to move the games to the nearby city of Maracay.

USA Blanks Cuba - Play resumed for the USA team, on Sunday with a 5-0 win over Cuba.

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. - The Chicago Red Stars of Women’s Professional Soccer announce today the signing of Spanish international forward Veronica Boquete. Per team policy, terms of Boquete’s contract are not released.

Boquete recently led the Buffalo Flash to the 2010 United Soccer Leagues W-League Championship on July 31. Boquete scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 63rd minute, as Buffalo defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps, 3-1, for the title. She earned W-League Championship Most Valuable Player honors.

Thompson's buzzer-beater lifts Sparks

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Tina Thompson's buzzer-beating jump shot lifted the Los Angeles Sparks to a 78-77 win over the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday, and kept the Sparks' playoff hopes alive.

Lindsey Whalen hit two free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining to give the Lynx a 77-76 lead.
